Futurum (Future Tense)

The future tense (futurum) in Norwegian describes actions that will happen in the future.

Usage:

  • To describe future actions: I morgen skal jeg gå til skolen. (Tomorrow, I will go to school.)
  • To express intentions: Vi skal lage middag. (We will make dinner.)

Formation:

The future tense is typically formed using the auxiliary verb skal (shall/will) followed by the infinitive form of the main verb.

Conjugation:

Person Verb: å snakke (to speak)
Jeg skal snakke
Du skal snakke
Han/Hun skal snakke
Vi skal snakke
Dere skal snakke
De skal snakke

Common Time Expressions:

  • I morgen (tomorrow)
  • Neste uke (next week)
  • Om ett år (in a year)

Examples:

  • Jeg skal lese boken. (I will read the book.)
  • De skal reise til Paris. (They will travel to Paris.)
