Nākotne (Future)

The Nākotne (Future) tense in Latvian is used to describe actions that will happen in the future. It can indicate plans, intentions, or predictions about events that have not yet occurred.

The Nākotne tense is used in the indicative mood, which expresses facts or certainty about actions that are expected to happen in the future.

  • Mood: Indicative (expresses certainty about future actions)

Active Voice Conjugation:

1st Person es runāšu
2nd Person tu runāsi
3rd Person viņš/viņa runās
1st Person Pl. mēs runāsim
2nd Person Pl. jūs runāsit
3rd Person Pl. viņi/viņas runās

Passive Voice Conjugation:

Form Passive (Future)
/ tiks runāts

Examples:

  • Active Positive: Es runāšu latviski rīt. (I will speak Latvian tomorrow.)
  • Active Negative: Es nerunāšu latviski rīt. (I will not speak Latvian tomorrow.)
  • Passive Positive: Latviski tiks runāts skolā. (Latvian will be spoken at school.)
  • Passive Negative: Latviski netiks runāts skolā. (Latvian will not be spoken at school.)
